A good number of the friends I've made in TFA are not teaching next year, but are instead going to graduate school in some other state. I leave for New York in the morning and most of them are leaving the state while I'm gone, so it's been time for some tear filled goodbyes. Everyone keeps saying how hard it is to leave Atlanta after developing such close friendships and feeling so settled in our lives. I would beg to differ. The majority of my life is not changing. I'll stay in the same city, eat at the same restaurants, walk in the same parks. Only, now I won't have any friends to do those things with.
It is so much harder to be the one who stays.
